Ambition and Discipline

Updated: Jun 19, 2024

ambition

[amˈbiSH(ə)n]

NOUN

a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.

Adults make plans and execute them. Children do what they feel like doing.

Jim Rohn frequently taught this simple formula for success, "Decide what you want and write down."

Yet,"According to the best research, less than 3 percent of Americans have written goals, and less than 1 percent review and rewrite their goals on a daily basis." (Brian Tracey, Success Through Goal Setting.)

From INC., Science Says 92 Percent of People Don't Achieve Their Goals. "Simply put, the 8 percent of goal-setters who succeed want it, and badly."

Discipline

Enough said.

So the fundamentals to success are*:

  1. Dream: Decide what you want and write it down.

  2. Scheme: Chart your course.

  3. Team: Select your crew.

  4. Set Sail: And for that you need systems, processes and feedback cycles.

When are you going to do what needs to be done?
