WhyShips?
We find sailing to be good metaphor for both business and life. Ships are built to carry passengers and cargo from point A to point B. To make a successful voyage, certain conditions must be met:
1) A ship must be seaworthy. It must be water tight, boyant, and steerable. So too with life and business--each must be sound for a successful crossing.
2) A ship must be built right for the voyage. You would be hard pressed to cross an ocean in a rowboat. You would want kayak rather than a sailboat for white water rafting.
3) A boat is better captained by one who is trained and experienced. You can either captain your own or get aboard one who's captain you trust.
4) The sea, like life and the economy is somewhat if not entirely unpredictable. "We cannot control the wind, but we can learn to control the set of our sails." ~ Jim Rohn
5) A successful crossing requires a solid plan. It takes charts(maps), equipment, supplies, points to resupply, and a desired destination. So too with life and business.
6) The sea can be scary. So can life and business if you aren't well equipped.
